Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based approach that helps people develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts, emotions, and life experiences rather than constantly fighting against them. Many people become stuck in cycles of anxiety, self-criticism, avoidance, perfectionism, or emotional overwhelm while trying to control or “get rid of” uncomfortable feelings. ACT helps clients learn how to respond to these experiences with greater self-awareness, flexibility, and compassion so they can move forward in ways that align with their values and the life they want to build.
Rather than focusing on perfection or eliminating discomfort, ACT encourages clients to accept what is outside of their control while committing to meaningful action and personal growth. This approach can be especially helpful for anxiety, chronic pain, stress, burnout, life transitions, and high-achieving individuals who feel disconnected or emotionally exhausted. I integrate ACT with warmth, curiosity, and a collaborative approach, helping clients feel more grounded, present, and connected to themselves while building resilience and creating lasting change.
